I love my Daughter~in~law. God brought Emily into our lives two and a half years ago when we least expected it. The time since then has been nothing short of the ride of our lives! We have learned to listen to God, we have learned to listen to our son, and we have learned to listen to Emily. Emily is my soul mate. She and I are not always in agreement, but we are always moving toward the Lord together. I am so thankful that He has given her to our family. You may be wondering why I feel the need to express this now, since Emily has been in our family now for 2 months. Well, if you have read her recent Xanga postings, it becomes obvious if you know both of us that we are possibly not on the same page on this topic. Em and I discuss things quite a bit, and never walk away in disunity (is that a word?) We don’t even “agree to disagree.” We have so far been able to talk things through until we are on the same page, while still having our own separate convictions and preferences. Do we not serve a great God!?! I love you, Emily! I am so glad God chose you to belong to my son, and to all of us Petty’s.

Welcome to xanga Mrs. Petty! She is a wonderful girl isn’t she?
Emily is AWESOME! So is Nate. Welcome to xanga…
That was one of the sweetest things I’ve read in a long time. And I do think you would have to search far and wide to find anyone to disagree with it.
I love you too, Mama! You are a wonderful mother-in-law, and I am honored to be counted among your daughters. You have raised a beautiful-hearted, God-fearing, wife-loving son, for whom I thank our Father for daily, and I am blessed to belong to him. (And to all the rest of you!) Even when we don’t necessarily agree on certain issues (smile!), I learn so much when we talk. Thank you for your kind words.
🙂 Want to come over for tea?
