Date Night with Bill

Last night Bill and I had a date night.  We don’t have the opportunity for that as often as we’d like, so anything done together away from the house becomes a date for us!

First, we drove to Houston where Bill took me downtown to show off some of their jobsites.  I’d been to one of them a couple of times, but not in awhile.  This is the job that has the tower crane that my very brave but perhaps not too smart husband went up in so he could take pictures 280 feet up in the air!!!  Well, anyway, the cranes are still there, but that was all I could see because we went down under a bridge so my view was obstructed.

Bill loves to drive downtown.  There are so many things that interest him.  He is intrigued by people – all different types of people.  He loves architecture, especially odd architecture!  He enjoys beautiful things, like flowers, fountains, sunrises…  And he really gets a charge out of anything mechanized!!!  He was like a kid in a candy shop as we watched the downtown trains go by.  I know him – if he can figure it out, we’ll have a mini-train system in our yard!  He’s always wanted to build Dannye one to take her protégés riding around in.

After a quick bite at Subway (we are on a budget, both money-wise and time-wise!) we headed off to our ultimate destination – the Reliant Center to see Dave Ramsey Live!  Dave Ramsey is one of Bill’s heroes.  As a matter of fact, I think he is right up there under our Lord and Bill’s Dad!  Bill listens to him faithfully, and has been so encouraged by his radio show.  So when he came to Houston, Bill wanted to go see him.  Coincidently, a friend of ours sent us information about getting half-price tickets which made it even easier for us to go.

It was an amazing event.  I’ve never known anyone with so much energy!  He had us laughing, then crying, then laughing again all night long.  I had known he is a Christian man, and was blessed to hear his boldness in proclaiming his beliefs.  He used Scripture, especially Proverbs, throughout his presentation.  One of his final points is “Prayer works!”  He is very inspiring, not only to those deep in debt, but to anyone who would like to be better stewards of their money.  He had something to say to every tax bracket.  If you need hope and encouragement with your finances, just listen in on Dave Ramsey – you’ll sure get it!

Picture for Shutterfly 020 Bill and I had such a good evening together.  I never mind what the agenda is, or how little money there is available.  Just time with Bill – that’s all I need!

God Bless your Day!

About Petty Bunch

The Petty Bunch is what we have called our family since Bill and I (Janina) began our family back in the early 1980s. We have gone down many roads together - homeschooling our kiddoes, enjoying the freedom of entrepreneurship many years, working at "real jobs" other years. Through it all, we have been loved with God's everlasting love, and have found that underneath are His everlasting arms! We are blessed to have been married for over 39 years, and have 3 incredible adult children, a wonderful daughter-in-law, an amazing son-in-law, and TEN grandchildren: five precious granddaughters, and 5 handsome grandsons - so far. We are empty nesters, still enjoy the life of an entrepreneur and the freedom it gives us to continue enjoying our kids and now, their kids!

Nina, Nina, Nina!  You and Bill are the perfect example of God’s plan for marraige.  The way each of you puts the other first in every way.  No one can doubt your complete love for one another.  Bill talks about you in the same way you talk about him.  Its just so very inspirational and wonderful.  I admire and love you both so much.  You know that your hubby came by here a couple of days ago and we had the best visit.  Bill is so sweet, funny and knowledgeable.  Plus he is such a good guy, doing a special favor for us.  You done so good!  I should have known since the first time I met the man (way before the “age of Bill and Nina”) he spent his evening rescuing a bunch of us from flood waters and helping us get to our homes.  Gotta love him!

I agree w/everything B said, so I won’t repeat it, ha!  And date nights are special……even after your kids are grown & gone!  We actually tried them years ago in NRH but like everything else in our lives…….it just fades away.  We still love to go off in our motor home alone – could that be called “date camping”???  I love you & Bill very much…….like B said, you both “done good” in your choice of soul mate & spouse!!!  See you this Saturday!!!  Dodie

At the river Scooter and I take “date floats”.  Does that count?  This year we did not get to since the water was so high all year.  Oh, and we love to go to El Napilito’s for dinner while at the river.  Yum!

I love the “date camping” idea, and I hate that I didn’t get to try a “date float” this year!  Anytime I get to spend with my hubby when I get all (well, at least most) of his attention is a “date”!

Scooter and I could be in a closet and I couldn’t get more than a pittance of his attention.  Not for long, anyway!  ha  He would be trying to listen to the tv through the door.  That’s why I like to get him out on the water. ha
