Pam and Will Set Up Housekeeping

Last Thursday, Bill, Dannye Reigh, and I packed up all the remainder of Pamela’s belongings, plus gifts of furniture and stuff from friends and loved ones, and hauled it all to Pensacola.  The day before, Pamela, Will, and his folks were doing the same thing from Michigan.  They got to Pensacola Thursday morning and had their trailer unloaded by the time we got there that afternoon.

Will is beginning his Masters program this semester, and both of them begin work this week, so it was time to get them settled into their new (to them) home.  The girls did most of the unpacking and putting away while the guys hunted down a storage cabinet, a washing machine (they already had a dryer), and  hardware to hang the gi-normous mirror they received as a gift.

Bill also spend the early morning hours (while most of the world is sleeping) enjoying the sunrise over the Gulf.  When I see his sunrises, I always wish I were a morning person!

This is my personal favorite!

Meanwhile, back at the house…

I am so thankful Dannye Reigh was there to help Pamela unpack.  She and Pamela work so well together, and Pamela trusts and relies on Dannye’s organizational skills and creative eye.  Patsy used the wisdom of her years of homemaking to help with arranging everything from furniture to kitchen utensils.  I re-covered the dining room chairs (with Patsy’s help!) and did my best to help out where I could while trying not to freeze to death in Pamela’s new home!  I told her I am used to living with old people who keep their thermostat on 80 degrees in the summer.  Pamela and Will definitely like it cooler than that!  I’m sure I had pneumonia by the time we left Sunday!

Since pictures are worth a thousand words, here is Pamela and Will’s new home:

My little girl developed a green thumb while she was in Michigan, and brought these to put in her new yard.

Okay, this is the front door of the house, which enters into a small room they will use as a dining room.

I feel certain Pamela was glad when our shoes no longer graced her entryway!!

This view is standing at the front door looking in.  I love their little table – just perfect for the two of them.  And it has a leaf when they need to expand it for visitors.  These are the chairs Patsy and I recovered.  They turned out beautiful, if I do say it myself!  I love the little window!

Years ago, someone told me we should always have evidence of our love for Christ on display in our home.  Pamela and Will have done that beautifully!

Now we have stepped up into the living room, which is to the right of the entry/dining room.  Bo and Emily gave them this couch/love seat/recliner set, and it goes perfectly in their home!

Bill is peeking here from the dining area – Dan had run us out for better aesthetics, but, well, you know…

Kitchen, obviously.  She has chosen red & black for her kitchen, with Coca Cola collectibles throughout

Aren’t they great?!

Cool stuff!

There was no pantry, so they bought this shelf for storage.  I love the little Coca Cola stand, too.  The answer to the limited counter space was a small folding table – perfect fit!

Great toaster!!

Now into the bedroom…

Their lovely bed coverings – just amazing!

The other side of the bedroom.  They had not gotten the pictures hung in this room when these photos were taken.

Next, the bathroom:

Too cute!

We didn’t try to get photos of Will’s office.  It was being used as the guest room for this visit!  So now we’ll go out back:

After church on Sunday we went to Ryan’s for lunch on the way home.  They put us in the only air conditioned room in the place!!  I wanted to cry!!!!!

God did give us an amazing sunset on the trip home, though.

  1. Mom says it doesn’t get easier. Sorry. :(What a lovely home they’ve made! I’m so happy that they’re settled and ready for this next phase. What a perfect, wonderful way to begin!

What a great batch of pictures!  I am just tickled pink about Pam and Will’s little cottage.  Adorable!  And to have their families there to help them get it all set up.  How great is that!  Their interiors look beautiful.  I couldn’t help noticing the beautiful candle holders I gave them.   I tried to find something similar to them for Codey and Ethan but no luck so far.  I’m happy you had such a good time.  Tell Bill his photos of the sunrises are breathtaking, especially that first one.  It just blew my mind.  I am at Martha’s and we came home from Greta’s yesterday afternoon.  Mila is beautiful, a tiny doll.  So far she is still Billy Michael’s granddaughter. ha  I have hope because she has the same black hair growing on her back and forehead that BM and my Mark had.  That could signify a little dark haired, dark eyed girl.  She and Ava would be gorgeous as the blond and the brunette daughters.  Beck is cute as a bug.  I took him a Glowworm doll and he thought that lighted up face was really neat.  I took a cute little outfit for Ava, which of course did not thrill her much but she did have fun playing with the little prayer bunny I got for one of Mila’s gifts.  Cutest thing you ever saw, when you squeeze the bunny a little gir’s voice recites the “Now I lay me down to sleep” prayer.  Soooo sweet.  Glad you are home and safe.

  3. I’ve seen these pictures three times so far but still enjoyed looking at them just as much as the first time! We are SOOO happy for them! Their new (to them) home is lovely!
