A Wedding with a Silver Lining…

My title is a bit of a misnomer, since there didn’t seem to be any “clouds” hovering over this wedding other than the literal ones as the couple prepared to leave, but this photo just begged for the above title:

Mel and Conrad Silver Lining

Bill was taking pictures of the get-away, and the sun was behind the clouds causing a beautiful, glowing silver edging around them.  You can’t see it as well here on Xanga, but it was indeed a breathtaking sight, especially with the happy couple in the foreground!

The wedding itself was one of the most beautiful I have ever experienced.  The bride is my Dannye Reigh’s best friend of 16+ years, and the groom is a family friend for about that long as well.  We have watched their relationship grow, and have impatiently waited for this day.  It was worth the wait!  The ceremony was beautifully done by the groom’s father.  The processional music was “Be Thou My Vision”, performed by the bride (on violin), her father (on piano and keyboard), and the groom (on mandolin and guitar), recorded and mixed by the groom.  I am always moved by that hymn, but especially so because of the special circumstances.

Dannye and Pamela were both attendants – there were 10 for both the bride and groom!  The colors were a darker green and silver.  Green is Dan’s color, so she looked amazing!  All the “maids” did – all were glowing with joy for their sister/friend.

Melody’s mama is my dear friend, Terri, and she had the joy of her brother’s family in attendance.  They live in Maryland, so Terri seldom gets to see them.  There were also many, many friends there I rarely have the opportunity to see anymore; homeschooling friends, many of whom still have little ones to teach, while Bill and I are finished with that season of our lives.

I felt so free – Jeanne was with Mama and Daddy, so there were no worries for the whole day!  I was late getting away – I had wanted to be with Terri all morning, but several things came up, as often happens when you have elderly charges.  This was Terri’s first to fly from the nest, and I so wanted to be an encouragement to her.  I think she was more of an encouragement to me, though!  She was beautiful herself, in her navy dress with her long, silver hair flowing down her back.  Dannye did Terri’s hair, and said, as she always does when she works with Terri’s hair, “Mrs. Watt has AWESOME hair!”

On the way home Bill and I stopped at McDonald’s for a quick burger, and several of our friends also stopped by on their way home from the wedding.  We had a nice little “wind-down” visit there as well!

I am hoping to have more pics of this precious wedding soon, but I’ve noticed I promise pics often, but seldom go back and get it done!  Bill was taking candids all day, so I should have at least some access to them, so we’ll see!

I’m getting off.  Jeanne took Daddy to the doctor because I couldn’t take another day off right now.  Dan is staying with Mama, and Bill brought me to work because he went to his aunt’s memorial service this morning.  I find that I tire so quickly nowadays, and I’m ready for Bill to pick me up and take me home!  I might get there in time to sneak in a nap while Mama and Daddy are having theirs!

God bless your day!

About Petty Bunch

The Petty Bunch is what we have called our family since Bill and I (Janina) began our family back in the early 1980s. We have gone down many roads together - homeschooling our kiddoes, enjoying the freedom of entrepreneurship many years, working at "real jobs" other years. Through it all, we have been loved with God's everlasting love, and have found that underneath are His everlasting arms! We are blessed to have been married for over 39 years, and have 3 incredible adult children, a wonderful daughter-in-law, an amazing son-in-law, and TEN grandchildren: five precious granddaughters, and 5 handsome grandsons - so far. We are empty nesters, still enjoy the life of an entrepreneur and the freedom it gives us to continue enjoying our kids and now, their kids!

I hope you do give us some pics, but I’m sure I’ll see some today on Dan’s LT.  I’m sorry you didn’t have your nap yesterday and doubly sorry you had to deal with ac problems all night!  See you this afternoon, sweetest sister.
