It’s late and I need to be in bed, but I really wanted to ask you all to be praying for the folks devastated by the Texas wildfires. We’ve been really watching several fires because they are too close to us for comfort. One large fire – 3000 acres – is about 20 miles south, southwest of us. Another fire – 5000 acres – is about 50 miles north of us. We have many friends either already evacuated, or waiting for the word from the officials to evacuate. The 30,000 acre fire (not mis-typed – thirty thousand acres) is further away, about 100 miles, but is so very bad – two lives lost thus far, and over 600 homes.
We can smell smoke outside our house when the wind is just right. Our small subdivision is bounded on three sides by the Sam Houston National Forest – our street (dirt road) dead ends into the forest. There are no fires in our “neck of the woods”, yet the possibility becomes more real to us every day. I am praying, and ask you to join me in prayer, that the Lord will send a good soaking rain soon. As I’ve said before, He doesn’t care what the weather forecast says. He can send rain whenever He pleases!
“I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields…” Job 5:8-10
God bless your day – and may He please have mercy on us here in Texas.
